You hear all the time, we have a client, but what does this mean? Let me give you the short answer. First, you need to know who your customers. Secondly, you need to know the needs and desires of your customers. And thirdly, you have a plan to meet the needs and desires.
The first mistake that we normally do is think about who should be worried about the provision of a product or a service for us. It is totally against your productive work in the context of who you are to find a customer. It is a selfish point of view, the sub-optimal performance. Believe it or not, it is difficult to do your job.
To begin the process of becoming a client, you create a list that you think your customers are (others, including your family and meaningful). Do not worry about basic evil, just your opinion on this subject.
If you’re ready you can to broadcast your ad to your customers and ask them to evaluate your performance. If they are honest, you’re probably not too many surprises. In the same time, you will probably not what you hear. We know in general good or bad, it’s the work we do. Do not be defensive. Like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, quality is in the eye of the customer.
Once done, answer the following questions.
If the customer takes care of my needs (instead of mine), in a timely and appropriate to focus my job, what would you do my work (what I would do differently to change)?
If this happens, how do you measure the success of your day was?
How would you describe your perception of “what a good day” and “What a bad day, is the change?
The fact is that deep if everyone around the needs of the customer (internal and external can last), when all requirements are met. Nobody will feel as if they are not adequately supported. It is a seamless circle, where nobody is left behind.
To ensure that you get what you need, make sure first that your customers get what they need.
